Happy New Year! and a freebie

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas (if you celebrate it), and are ready for the new year. Now that our family has gone, and my husband is on vacation until Jan 2nd, I’m back to working on my new kits, and revamping some of the freebies I previously offered. You should see Modern Girl! I’m so excited to get it into the store as I did some really nice improvements to it. While playing around with some patterns/textures and creating some new papers for another new kit I came up with some interesting “mistakes” that I thought I’d give as a freebie. These are 3 background papers created by multiple layers of some of Obsidian Dawn’s lace patterns along with some handmade textures. They don’t match any of the kits I’m currently working on, but I know they’ll be useful for something!

The holidays have definitely slowed down my progress on opening my SAS store, but it shouldn’t be too much longer. I’ve been doing a little reorganizing of my blog to get it ready for my store opening, too. I have a lot of things in the works and can’t wait for everything to come together. On top of that, my lovely, wonderful husband bought me a wide format printer for Christmas! Yippee! I had been designing my LO’s in 8 1/2 x 11″ format so I could print them from home. I’m so excited to get to design in 12 x 12″ format now as that will give me so many more design options. I love being able to print my LO’s as soon as I’m done creating them, too. Think my husband really knows the way to this woman’s heart!

A few days early, but Happy Holidays!

I wanted to take a quick moment to wish each and every one of you very Happy Holidays!! I don’t think I’ll get a chance to post anything again until after Christmas, as it’s a little crazy here! My brother’s coming tomorrow night, then my in-laws come on Saturday and will be with us for a week. It will be great fun for Ben to have his grandparents here for his first “real” Christmas. Officially his first Xmas was last year, but since he was only 9 months old, he didn’t understand a single thing about it. Now that he’s 21 months, he definitely knows that something’s going on. Every morning when we come downstairs he says “Tweeee!!” and excitedly points to the tree, dancing in front of it until I plug in the lights. Once the tree is lit he then gives me a standing ovation. Sometimes he’s just so stinkin’ cute I can’t believe I get to keep him    

I am really hoping to get my new “store” at SAS up and running as soon as possible, but with the holidays I think it will realistically be after the holidays before I officially launch. I’ve been working on a brand spankin’ new kit for my new store. I’m keeping the details of this one under wraps for the moment, but I will tell you that it’s going to be bright & fun, and a little different than the kits I’ve done so far. Have to have some diversity, right?

I hope that everyone gets to really enjoy the spirit of the season and enjoy some quality time with your loved ones. Warmest wishes from my family to yours, and Happy Festivus for the Rest of Us!

Whoohooo! I’m a designer!

It’s official. I’m now one of the new members of the design team at Stone Accents Studio! I’m so incredibly excited right now! When I first entered the new designer contest I figured that I’d do “okay”, and it would be a great experience for me. I honestly didn’t get my hopes up about actually being one of the winners until after the 2nd Round, then I thought it was more of a possibility. I am so looking forward to having the opportunity to actually sell my designs, I think I just might break out into a happy dance right now. OK, so maybe I didn’t break out in a dance (have to finish my ice cream first!), but I’m dancing on the inside – I swear

Thank you so much to all of you who took the time to vote for me throughout this process. I hope you realize how much I appreciate it! I’ve already been spending a lot of time re-working some of the previous items I offered as freebies on here and fine-tuning some of my other kits to make them even better. In the mean time – I put together the last part of the Modern Boy kit to celebrate my happiness with all of you! Forget Me Nots add-on #2

Happy Saturday! I can’t believe Christmas is just around the corner. I should be shopping and writing out my Christmas cards, but I can’t seem to tear myself away from the computer. There’s always tomorrow, right? I’ll get right to the final add-on that I have for my Forget Me Nots kit. Thank you to everyone who’s already left such wonderful comments about this kit – I really appreciate it!! This add-on has a few new items such as photo turns & “flowers” created from the frosted brads in my original kit. There’s 2 new frames (1 wrapped, and one plain with a thin green matte). I’ve also included another journaling blog, 3 more 12″ ribbons, and 3 more variations of the striped papers in the original.

Finished & posted my new kit!

I was working like crazy on this kit all week in whatever spare moments I had, and it’s finally posted for the final round of the SAS New Designer Contest. This kit was inspired by my mother, as Forget Me Nots have always reminded me of her. She passed away in 1991 from lymphoma.  I put a lot of thought into each and every element and paper in this kit and did a lot of fine tuning until I was pleased with the result. I really think that all of you will love this kit and find it really useful. Not to mention that I’ll have 2 add-on kits posted on Friday & Saturday! Whoohoo! Voting on this round will open sometime tomorrow after noon or so. I’ll be posting a link to the voting area, the add-on, as well as links to where you can download this kit from tomorrow.

I made it! Whoohoo!!

The final results of the votes for round 2 are officially in, and I must say I’m soooooo thrilled!! I’ve advanced to the next round, and was over 40 votes ahead. You have no idea how surprised I am at the percentage of votes that my kit received. Thank you so very much to each and every one of you who voted for me – I truly appreciate it. I also sincerely appreciate all of the comments left on my blog, at SAS and on 4shared for the kits that I’ve made. I’m very touched by the amount of encouragement and support that I’ve received, and it really thrills me to read them all. So, my biggest THANK YOU!! The final round of the SAS new designer contest is next week, and the new theme is supposed to be announced some time after midnight tonight. Who will be checking for it around 1am? Me. Yes… I’m that anxious to see what it’s going to be. There’s 12 of us in this round, as sadly 5 of the lovely ladies were eliminated after this past week. Next weekend’s vote is extremely important since the top 4 will be the ones who get the new designer slots. I can almost guarantee that I’ll be glued to my laptop all weekend!
